Beetroot Thepla recipe

Thepla is a type of Indian flatbread or roti that originates from Gujarat. And It is a popular snack or you can say breakfast food in Gujarat.


Thepla is basically made from a dough that is primarily composed of whole wheat flour, but can also include other flour such as chickpea flour or millet flour. The dough is spiced with a mixture of ground spices, such as cumin, coriander, turmeric, and red chili powder, as well as grated chili, and ginger.


The dough is then rolled out into thin, flat circles and cooked on a tawa or griddle until golden brown on both sides. You can enjoy thepla as it is plain or with a variety of accompaniments, such as yogurt, chutney, or pickle.


You know Thepla is one of the popular snacks for Gujju travelers and is often packed as a snack for long journeys.

So I thought let's make thepla in gujju style with some healthy version So I did make beetroot thepla and that's the yummiest thing i did make coz my son doesn't like to have beetroot and trust me he enjoys this thepla

Beetroot thepla is a variation of the traditional thepla recipe that includes grated beetroot. It adds a lovely color and flavor to the dish, making it a nutritious and delicious breakfast or snack option.


 


To make beetroot thepla, you will need:


  • 1 cup purpose flour or wheat

  • 1/2 cup grated beetroot

  • 2tbsp oil

  • 1 tbsp red chili powder

  • 1 tbsp salt

  • 1 tsp ajwain ( carrom seed)

  • Water, as needed

  • Oil, for cooking



How to make :


  • In a mixing bowl, combine the purpose flour, grated beetroot, red chili powder, ajwain, oil, and salt. Mix well.

  • Gradually add water and knead the dough until it comes together and is smooth.

  • Divide the dough into small balls and roll them out into thin, flat circles.

  • Heat a tawa or griddle over medium heat. Place the rolled-out thepla on the hot tawa and cook for a minute or until you see small bubbles on the surface.

  • Flip the thepla and drizzle a little oil on the surface. Cook until both sides are golden brown.

  • Repeat the process with the remaining dough.

  • Serve the beetroot thepla hot with yogurt, chutney, pickle, or curry.

  • Enjoy your delicious and nutritious beetroot thepla
